Gianluca Santoni è nato a Viareggio nel 1963. Il fotografo toscano ha pubblicato il primo reportage nel 1989 sullo storico mensile “L’Illustrazione Italiana”. Da allora ha realizzato servizi geografico-culturali in Europa e Asia per i più importanti mensili italiani ed esteri. Degas diceva: “cerco di infondere un certo incanto alla verità”. Santoni ha sempre cercato di fare tesoro di questa frase, nel suo lavoro non prova mai a cambiare la realtà, ma cerca di rappresentarla e di proporla da un punto di vista più ottimista possibile. Si considera un cercatore di bellezza. Nei suoi reportage la ricerca sta nello scovare e nel catturare l’essenza positiva ed estetica che ogni luogo racchiude. Raccontare non solo luoghi fisici ma le emozioni e le sensazioni che riescono ad evocare e trasmettere.Si dedica inoltre alla scrittura di brevi racconti pubblicando su alcune riviste culturali.

Gianluca Santoni was born in Viareggio in 1963. The Tuscan photographer published the first report in 1989 on the historic monthly “L’Illustrazione Italiana”. Since then he has made geographic-cultural reportages in Europe and Asia for the most important Italian and foreign magazines. Degas said: “I try to instill a certain charm into the truth”. Santoni has always tried to treasure these words and in his work he never tries to change reality, but tries to represent and propose it from the most optimistic point of view. He considers himself a beauty seeker. In his reportage the research lies in finding and capturing the positive and aesthetic essence that each place contains, telling not only physical places but the emotions and sensations that they evoke and transmit. He also dedicates himself to write short stories, publishing in some cultural magazines.
